Help Needed Please & a Giveaway!
I have spent much of the last few days working on my website - a job which involves hours of sitting staring at a computer screen until my eyes feel as though they are about to bleed! Attractive image isn't it?
The whole site needed a little tweaking which, once started, turned into a lot of tweaking. The result I hope will make it a little easier to navigate. I have changed the product page so that there are now four categories: gifts, bags, children's corner and home accesories. Some of the products will appear in a couple of categories because they fit both - hey, who am I to say a door hanging can't be both a home accessory and a gift?
By clicking on the images you should now be taken through to a page of products available in each of the categories and from there to further details (size, price, etc) of each item.
I have also updated at last the Where we are and What we are doing pages with more current pictures of our life here in Cornwall - it is after all what inspired and continues to inspire this little business of mine.
Now for the 'Help' part of this post: I wonder if you would be so good as to pop over to have a look at the site? What I want is for you to have a wander around, try out some of the links, generally test it out for me and then let me know what you think. In return I will put all the names of those who leave a comment between now and Saturday morning - shall we say 10am closing? - into a hat and send whoever is pulled out one of these Hush Hearts as a thank you. I know how hard it can be to find time to just read blogs let alone have to do some work, so I really am very grateful to those who can help out. Not worried if you've never visited before or never commented - always nice to meet new people. The pipany website can be reached here.
(And dear Twiglet who has waited forever, yours is in the post finally and should be there tomorrow - let me know if not!).
Thank you x

Hi Pipany, I've just had a quick flick through the website and it is very clear and easy to use. The photographs are fabulous and it is easy to navigate around the pages. Well done. My own site is long over due a revamp but I keep putting it off because I know it won't be a quick job.
ReplyDeleteIt's very very pretty and the photos are lovely. It's easy to add items to the cart, and remove and update as needed, which is welcome. The one thing I might say is that it isn't always obvious whether you can/should click on the product photo to get through to the details page, or only on the buttons. It's a small thing and certainly wouldn't put me off if I were planning to order!
ReplyDeleteI think that your website looks super! It is easy to use and you do not have too many colours or other things going on which, I think, lets the products stand out nicely. Your photography is beautiful as well. x
ReplyDeleteIt look lovely but one thing - I find the green and tan writing is a bit fragmented. It may be my old eyes or this screen. Love the duck egg blue. The photos are great and the rest is fine.
ReplyDeleteDucks and runs as projectile zooms it's way up country.
No, don't duck and run Toady - this is what I wanted. I wonder if anyone else finds the tan and green writing difficult? Let me know.
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much.
Pipany x
I have just had a look at your website using an Imac with Firefox. It is lovely looking - because of the beautiful products, I think! There is a funny little relic on the Hush heart page - Handmade etc comes up twice with miniature buttons next to it, which don't do anything? Also, with a Mac you can't right click you have to do Ctrl Click (this is something I have only just learnt from my son), so it might be worth mentioning that, otherwise I wouldn't have known how to zoom. And where you click on the button under the pic to view the products in that category, my instinct was to click on the photo - I wondered if maybe that would be a good adjustment. I also think that several more of your home accessories would make gorgeous gifts - is it worth double listing some more?
ReplyDeleteBut this is nitpicking, really, I think it does look good and works fine on my Mac.
Pomona x
Worked fine on my Mac too. Thanks for that tip about Ctrl Click Pomona - I didn't know that.
ReplyDeleteSite good, clear and easy to navigate. I like your choice of colours and the photos are excellent. So is your work.
I will be ordering a lavender cushion when I get back from France.
Pipany,
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever been over to your website (sorry) but I have to say I am mightly impressed. It is lovely. Very eye catching and informative, lovely pictures and everything is so very easy to find - It's wonderful.
Good luck with the new products,
take care and rest those poor tied eyes - chamomile tea bags (once used) are very good,
lots of hugs,
Nina x
Lovely looking site - beautiful products and photographs. My only quibble is the olive green writing on the blue background - a slight tweak might make it more legible. Other wise 'brill'!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pomona - sorted that little relic which was an error I had overlooked.
ReplyDeleteI have also changed the product page to include directions to click on the images which now link to the relevant category.
This is great!
Thank you all xx
ReplyDeleteHello Pipany. I'm not very technically minded so can't help you with that side of things. I do love the photos though and it's nice to have links to who and where you are. Good luck with the re-vamp xxx
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I certainly didn't find any dead links or the sort of thing I am always likely to do!!
ReplyDeleteAs for the green tan writing, it isn't the easiest to read but I'm not finding it too much of a strain either.
All in all a double thumbs up!
Looks great and is quite inspirational. Oh for a full and unemptying bank balance as I would love to be able to buy it all! I love the idea of having a monthly 'thing to do' bit. Very clean and crisp, photos download quickly and the whole thing is coherant and hangs together brilliantly. Well done you!

A lovely, simply designed website. When I first clicked on the link I got an IE message about clearing the cache, but it works fine under IE8 and Firefox. It might be worth adding a site map if it gets much bigger.
ReplyDeleteJust had a look at your website and it looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteEverything was very clear and easy to navigate. And with beautiful pictures. A joy to look at. And loved the idea of what you are doing now and where you are. Really lovely.
I so love the new hangies you are doing too. With the movement of the grasses. Really beautiful.

It works really well, and looks pretty good too. The only criticism I would make is that the message on the home page about Christmas things coming soon, looks a bit apologetic, tucked away as it is, not in alignment with anything else. Perhaps it needs to be bolder, with a Christmassy avatar or something to attract attention to itself?
ReplyDeleteHello Pipany, I've just enjoyed a visit to your lovely website, and very beautifully put together it was too. I can only offer praise, no tweaks are necessary as it all looks wonderful, and was very easy to use. Your what we're up to section, is a great idea, a more personal touch (for non blog reading customers). Now go and put your feet up!

Pipany, I have followed your blog for months and have loved the pics you post. I haven't visited your store for a while and just did. You did a nice job, very clear, concise and friendly. I like the pics posted, no question on prices. Very easy to navigate. I really like the new shop! Thanks, please include me in your giveaway, Elaine
ReplyDeleteLovely site! It's so easy to get around and see what you want. I love the idea of the what we are doing now...a real insight into life. well done!
ReplyDeleteLovely website Pipany. Just one little thing - when I click on Beautiful Bags on the home page, the next page that comes up is lots of photos of beautiful bags, but it would be good if there was some wording under each picture before clicking on picture for more details. For example Beach Bag or Lauren Tote etc. I really like the where we are and what we are up to pages too! x
ReplyDeleteOh, my. Your web site is beautiful. Very easy to read and easy to navigate. The photos are stunning.
ReplyDeleteHi Pip,
ReplyDeleteI've been across to your website...but I've left my comments on your previous post...silly me...more muddles. Hope I can still be included!
Tracey
HAve just come over from Tabiboo's blog and found yours. Have checked out your website and found it entrancing - such beautiful items and the website was easy to navigate. Loved the photos of "where we are" too. All in all an excellent site I will definitely be returning to as well as your blog.
ReplyDeleteJane
Loved how clean it is (does that make sense?) I mean white, uncluttered and fuss free so the products stand out for themselves.
ReplyDeleteEasy to use, everything is there to move around quickly. Love it as looks professional without losing handmade charm.
Hope this helps.
Lisa x
It looks rather great to me, well done you.

Hi Pipany, I think it is an excellent little website. Having just tried to navigate a site to buy my train tickets to Harrogate I know what a site SHOULDNT be like!
ReplyDeleteThe photos are lovely, as are the goods, and I know from purchasing that they are gorgeous. My one tiny little criticism is that it is all too spring and summery looking for Autumn and the coming Christmas season when people are looking for gifts.
No need to add me to the giveaway as I already have one of your super hush hearts.
Faith x
Hi Pipany, I think that the new website is great, easy to navigate and I love the addition of the "where we are , what we are doing". My only criticism would be that the the sort of peach/ tan colours for the headings don't stand out so well (purely my taste) I would use a brighter colour (maybe blue) to match the brightness of the website itself. Have a lovely evening - jacqui x
ReplyDeleteI love this website .... gorgeous pictures transport you to a wonderful place ..... navigation of the site is easy even for a computer-nerd like me !! Well done Pipany
ReplyDeleteI think your website is wonderful Pipany, very clear, easy to navigate and very inspiring. I love that you have the 'where we are and what we are doing' bit in too. Really makes me want to come to Cornwall!
ReplyDeleteHi Pipany, you're website is beautiful, and easy to use. I love all of your products, they are so pretty.
