Isabella's 1st Birthday!
Hurray! It's here! Isabella was born a year ago today at 10.12am, to be precise and we are so excited it is almost ridiculous. Dave rang from work at 10.12 on the dot and told me to look under the bed, where I found a beautiful box containing three presents wrapped in tissue paper, all for me! There was a book on the Medici family which I have long wanted, a bottle of the hand lotion he bought me to take into hospital when Isabella was born (oh, how the smell takes me back) and a gorgeous embroidered top in creams, mauves and lime green - very beautiful and intended to take away the frumpy blues I have been having lately! What a fab man he is and how lucky am I?
No real time to blog though so am indulging myself by posting some pics from the Great Event - me looking knackered just after she was born and Dave looking so full of pride he almost shines with it! Catch up later hopefully xx

ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Isabella! What a joy your man sounds - presents hidden! Lovely pics. ALMOST (but not quite) makes me feel broody
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthda Isabella! That first birthday is so special, and filled with memories of the birth - so how amazing Dave is to recognise that Mum needs spoiling! Great pictures and I have to say you look all calm and glowing - pictures of me straight after childbirth would be quite terrifying!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday little Isabella.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely photos-what a lovely family. Your man sounds a gem.
Enjoy Isabella's special day.
warm wishes
xx
Oh happy birthday Isabella!! You all look so happy in the photos -- what joy she must bring you. And Dave sounds like a man in a million. Hope you have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for asking about the projects and deadlines. No still not finished, but making progress. I have to leave the book now for awhile because have to write two talks for a conference in USA next week. Hence still posting old blogs. Won't get the book done now till when I get back in June.
Happy birthday Isabella, I too get so excited at the children's birthdays. You look fab after the birth, how did you manage that, on my hospital photos I look absolutely awful, you are glowing! Have a good day.
ReplyDeletehappy birthday. Your man sounds too good to be true. Whilst l was waiting for Harry to arrive Hubby was cutting the lawn! then when he did arrive hubby & doc were discussing the differnces in birth technics between pigs, cows & humans. Harry was born at home.
ReplyDeleteLovely Lovely photos all glowing and cuddly. Happy 1st Birthday to Isabella -great name by the way. Toady
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Isabella!
ReplyDeleteAnd wow what a lovely hubby you have! Mine never did anything like that!
Wow what a man, can I have one too.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to little Isabella hope she had a really good day.
The writing excersize was very good. My niece does some writing, quite dark deep writing like yours was but she wont push herself to make anything of it, I find it very frustrating and want to give her a good kick up the bum sometimes, keep it up.
Happy Birthday Isabella! And hurrah, another Taurean.
ReplyDeleteI have been catching up on your blogs today, I love the photos - you are a lovely, lovely couple. I really liked your 'I remember' writing exercise, too - I have never done any 'proper' writing like that, it makes me feel quite insipred to give it a try.
hope you have all had a great day. lovely to have presents for you as well! have just had a phonecall from my friend to say my chicks are hatching - going to have a see tomorrow. may be onto you for more tips soon. have a good evening together.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Isabella! What great pics. Dave looks so proud, he shines! You look impossibly glam and perky.
ReplyDeleteI looked like something from a horror film after a very quick and not particularly painful birth, and my husband was in shock, had been since we discovered pregnancy, still was until Henry was about four months old. Which is probably why I only have one 'cos he would be the same again. Me, me, me, there I go again.
I loved these pics - thanks for sharing them with us!
Lovely pictures and story, how super to be 'spoiled'!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely pictures - and memories
ReplyDeleteGood morning Pipany - lovely photos you've shared and sweet memories. Your husband is a keeper!
ReplyDeleteHad to read your rememberings a couple of times - heavy stuff, but well written - probably need to read it again.
Happy Day to you all! So lovely....I agree with Suffolkmum though that you look wonderful...I was a frightshow!
ReplyDeleteI loved your writing too.....

HAPPY 53 weeks to Isabella!!! Realise, like some slack ole drunk fairy godmother (the kind bearing spinning wheels) that I have rolled in rather late!

ReplyDeleteWonderful!
ReplyDeleteWonderful, Pipany. Missed Isabella's birthday but I know she had a good one. She's lucky to have you and Dave as her parents. I have been catching up with your blogs and can so relate to your being uncomfortable in group situations where you don't know anyone. I still get like that - no particular reason, I was just very shy and unsure as a child, even though I had loads of love and encouragement from my family. Some of us are just made from that mould. Your writing exercise blog was so powerful, but written in your lovely gentle way - you moved me. On a lighter note (!!), J and I are hoping to come down to Cornwall in the next couple of months. Our friends have moved to Delabole and we are using their house as a base, while they are away. Would be really grateful for some suggestions of "must go" places - we've got 5 days stay.xx
ReplyDeleteWhere have you gone to am missing your blogs.

Happy belated birthday to Isabella! Are you sure you've just given birth in these pictures - you look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteO gorgeous piccies and just having given birth you look wonderful and glowing!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday little one.
ReplyDeleteLovely to have you back and my blog of yesterday was probably pertinent to you!
My hubby spent my first labour looking out of the window and rueing the corn he wasn't cutting!
