Not very good pictures today as they were taken very early before any real light was present in my sewing room, but it was the only chance I had to photograph this picture I embroidered for one of Lucy's friends. I started it in something of a hurry yesterday morning and sewed whenever a moment arrived - in other words, whenever Isabella was pre-occupied for a little while.
I decided to use my little girl applique which I am quite fond of as she has been in almost constant use in the sewing room ever since she first appeared on these door hangings
and Hearts & Flowers bags.
For the picture I wanted a flowery feel, so a tree on one side gave some height to balance the whole and a scattering of blue flowers beneath is reminiscent of bluebells - if you squint a bit and hold your head to one side!
I added a festoon (I like that word too) of multi-coloured flowers to give the impression of the little girl standing amongst them much as I would like to do and embroidered the line 'see the pretty flowers grow' to finish it off.
I hope she likes it.
Have a lovely weekend xx
